Tips for creating professional resume:

A professional acting resume is a written copy of any previous acting, singing or dancing you might have done. In your resume make sure you list the roles you've played in school, church, scouts, camps and plays/musicals you have done with theater groups. Your training (if any) and all other skills pertaining to performing arts should be included. Other skills may include things like juggling and skateboarding. You need not list everything you have done. You only need to emphasize the most important roles and maybe other performances that had some weight. It is advisable to produce an acting resume that accurately presents your experience and achievements. This document should ideally be a one-page document that lists your Theatrical, Stage, Film, TV and Commercial experience. A good idea is to sub-divide your acting resume so that each part of your career is clearly explained. Training and education, both formal and informal, should be detailed along with membership of professional affiliations (as it pertains to performing, such as dance)

Refer to the tips below. Feel free to use the sample resume to edit and type in your student's resume. Resume's should be 1-page max. For our resumes, please put your children's clothing and shoe size - please specify ADULT or CHILD sizes!  Click below on “Sample Resume” to download a copy.

SAMPLE RESUME

  1. Do not lie about your experience, or make up something just to fill in the skills area

  2. Do not make a resume larger that 8.5in x 11in. If possible, stick to the fundamental size of a one page resume

  3. Your resume should be easily readable by others, so take care to use an appropriate font size

  4. Make sure the headshot shows your face. No glamour shots or heavy stage makeup. Your face should be a blank canvas.

  5. Staple (no paper clips please) photo to the back of the resume. Do not cover any information on the resume. For a professional audition, an 8x10 photo should be stapled to the back of your resume (on 8 1/2 X 11 paper) and the resume should then be trimmed to fit the 8x10 photo.

  6. The contact information should be up-to-date

Emphasize your education and training to add strength to your resume.

Returning students - be sure to update everything on your resume. Besides obvious changes in your age and height etc., be sure to add any productions in which you have been involved since your last resume update.
